BLUE DOLPHIN CHARTERS REVIEW

Aloha! Are you looking for a fun family excursion when you take that long-anticipated vacation to Hawaii? Read on for a great family adventure!

We very much enjoyed our excursion with Blue Dolphin Charters during our stay on Kauai in February, 2017. Our cousins and their two young children joined us. The pre-excursion video let us view some of the possible varieties of sea life that we may encounter. There were a number of really cool souvenirs available for purchase, and our cousin, Heide even won a tee shirt for correctly answering one of the staff quiz questions following our briefing.

The beautiful catamaran was an experience in itself! Before we even left the dock, we were well informed of safety tips and rules as well as the location of the snack and beverage bar and the all time important location of the head…which is the boat term for restroom! The children were careful to always have at least one hand on the rail, thanks to the safety emphasis by Blue Dolphin staff. The boat was spacious and allowed the passengers plenty of room to roam as it got underway. Once we were out to sea, the sails unfurled and we rocked across the water.

All the staff were informative and knowledgeable regarding sea life and different species of fish, birds, and underwater mammals that frequent the area. We were entertained by sea turtles, dolphins, sea gulls, blue footed booby birds, and the gliding albatross. Of course, the highlight of a whale watch tour is the sighting of a whale. We watched a young humpback arch over the surface several times, playfully slapping his tale on the surface with a sizeable splash. And then, the grand finale of whale watching as he breached. The response of the passengers and cruise was applause accompanied by “oohs” and “ahhs.”

An assortment of soft drinks and cocktails was included. The children were delighted with snacks of fresh pineapple, brownies, and coconut tarts…all a part of the excursion.

After just over two hours of sightseeing, we returned to the dock. We had a lively discussion about our day’s adventure over dinner.

Go book a tour with Blue Dolphin Charters. It was a lifetime family adventure for us! Mahalo!
