You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important

On a bright and sunny day where every creature was living in harmony and were all chirpy with the weather, I was not. I was feeling rather stuck with these thoughts. “I am not enough, I don’t deserve good things, I feel lonely and I feel lost.” I kept looking around for someone, for something to make me feel less of what I felt.
What I missed and could have possibly been the most important solution was that I had a choice to change how I felt. But How?
In the movie The Help, Actress Viola Davis holds the Landlady’s daughter and tells her. “You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Intelligent.” I tried telling that to myself and felt so good after sometime. What did I understand from that movie?
As children, we were always told how charming, beautiful and strong we are. However, as we grew old people stopped telling us that we were pretty or intelligent. So we started to look out for someone, something that could make us feel that way again. So today, lets talk. Say that to yourself. In front of a mirror. Tell that you in the mirror “Hey lets talk.”
A talk with our inner selves when we are happy or sad can indicate a very healthy inner relationship. It helps us heal from within. Makes one feel complete.
So how does self talk help?
Okay, picking a rather common issue of Weight Loss one might wonder how will self talk help us to get there. We workout, starve ourselves and what do we do at the end? We look into the mirror and say “Oh god I look so fat!” “Oh that muffin top”.
A self talk though might seem so tedious and time taking has a pleasant effect on your mental health. Telling yourself that you look good, that it is a work in progress and you love how your body looks. You would work towards fitness and wellness. This kind of self talk nourishes the soul its very core and within no time you will see yourself glowing and so comfortable with your body. Now that is wonderful isn’t it?
Studies shows that even if one lost or gained weight it does not effect them as long as the way they project themselves in their mind. More info here…
When can you have a self talk?
Anytime! You don’t have to among people and look crazy you know. It’s all about easing yourself into a comfortable place, preferably look into the mirror and tell what you’d tell the child inside you. Tell her/him what she needs to here. This could be before a big talk you have with your parents, or confronting someone for any mistake that you might have done or even face your bullies! Get up and do it! Tell yourself words that you mean. If you wanna feel confident, tell yourself that you are bold and strong and confident and can do this!
Am I alone in this?
Definitely not! to showcase a wonderful example is my very own role model Lilly Singh or a.k.a IISuperwomanII. Going through depression she was tough, what got her through and even helped her reach her goals is the talk that she has every time she was either happy or sad. She gave herself a reality check, motivated herself, consoles and empowers herself with this selftalk. I would highly recommend you to watch her movie ‘A Trip to Unicorn Island’

So go ahead, try it. So what you feel stupid, it will be personal it will be you.
