Chemical fertilizers kill Florida coast

Florida governor Rick Scott declared an emergency state because of so-called red tides. The West coast of Florida was full of red algae, which are toxic to humans and fishes. They caused the death of millions of creatures near Florida coast.
Authorities and scientists are trying to find a way to clean the ocean. The state government allocated $100,000 for research to speed up the process. After all, red tides can inflict not only ecological but also financial damage.
It is impossible now to relax on the beaches in some Florida cities, and many tourist-oriented businesses have closed down.
The red tides are a natural phenomenon for Florida, but in the recent years it happens more and more often, and there are a number of reasons why.
The first is global warming. The temperature rises and the algae start blooming more intensively. The second and the most important reason is throwing chemical fertilizers into Lake Okeechobee, which then go the ocean. Fertilizers create a breeding ground for algae and bacterial growth.
Chemical fertilizers have numerous ways to harm the nature, and the red tides are one of them. It happens not only in Florida but also in the other countries. It causes the water pollution, which is extremely dangerous to our planet.
