I met an alien the other day

Though he left and went away

I hope I’ll see him waiting there

Out in the universe where I stare

His ship was like a diamond bright

A whirling dervish in the night

With red, green and lights of blue

Like a spinning Christmas tree, it flew

Yet on two legs as humans ambulate

His step was light as if to levitates

He was wise and I felt so ignorant

The far-out beings he met

Of tongues he spoke were myriad

He was grave and wise in all he did

And even though he lingered here

His essence seemed quite everywhere

But now he’s gone among the stars

And I am putting fireflies in mason jars

Wishing that I had more to say

About that magic time, he came my way!
