We left, but under a different threat

I left, but for purely nationalistic reasons. I didn’t see a threat to my children from the police. They were not likely to be stopped and frisked. No, the threat I saw was gentle but insidious: the threat of assimilation is what prompted me to pick up my family from a comfortable, priviledged life in white, Christian America and move them to Israel.
