Woman files lawsuit against Disney, alleging discomfort and vaginal injuries following waterslide experience

According to the lawsuit, while Emma McGuinness was marking her 30th birthday at the company’s Florida resort, she experienced a forceful intrusion of water into her body.

According to a lawsuit filed on Wednesday, a woman in Florida had a far from magical experience at Disney World, often referred to as “The Most Magical Place on Earth.” When Emma McGuinness visited Typhoon Lagoon park in 2019, Disney World had not yet adopted the slogan “The Most Magical Place on Earth” on its resort entrances.

However, the slogan “Where Dreams Come True” didn’t hold up well, as McGuinness alleges that she suffered “severe” injuries while riding the Humunga Kowabunga slide.

McGuinness, who was celebrating her 30th birthday with a ride on this aquatic attraction, which features a 5-story drop into a pool, claimed that she went airborne and was forcefully thrust downward against the slide, as detailed in the complaint obtained by Law & Crime.

According to the lawsuit, McGuinness’s clothing was wedged painfully between her legs, and water was violently pushed inside her. The pain continued even after she landed in the pool, and upon standing up, she observed blood flowing from between her legs, as stated in the complaint.

The complaint goes on to report that McGuinness was hospitalized due to “permanent bodily injury” and “vaginal lacerations.” Additionally, it noted that a hernia caused her bowel to protrude through her abdominal wall.

Attorney Alan Wagner, representing McGuinness and her husband, has filed a complaint against Disney, accusing the company of negligence. The complaint alleges that Disney fails to provide adequate warnings to women regarding the heightened risk of injury associated with the 214-foot ride.

The complaint asserts that due to their specific anatomical differences, women face a significantly higher risk of injury compared to men. It seeks damages in the amount of $50,000.

Disney World promotes the Humunga Kowabunga on its website as “the ride of your life” and tantalizingly promises visitors a “surprise ending.”

There has been no immediate response from Disney representatives to HuffPost’s request for comment
