THE BATTLE OF THE GOLDEN ERA DEBUTS
IT’S BRACKET TIME!!
The #MarchMadness 90s R&B Tournament was so much fun, we decided to do it again! This one isn’t quite so hard: the best Hip Hop and R&B debut albums.
I agonized over final choices and seeding, but I know there will be questions..
- These are all released between 1987 and 2003 (with the exception of College Dropout, which I felt like I just couldn’t leave out).
- I left out some artists for whom it’s universarlly understood that their later albums were their definitive work/more impactful, such as Usher, Bobby Brown, 2Pac, Public Enemy, TI, etc.
- Seeding is largely based on my own opinion (sorry, not sorry). It’s not technical by sales, charts, etc.
- Your voting should be based on YOUR own criteria. It’s more fun that way.
Download your blank bracket below. *Note — Bracket has been updated to correct Supreme Clientele to Ironman.
The online bracket goes live for voting on AUGUST 1st at 10am ET.
Cast your votes for each round, and you can vote more than once per round!
