Nobody on the earth can ever love you more than your parents.

At present Pakistan has 11.3 million people over the age of 60 years which will increase to 43.3 million in 2050, that will be approximately 15.8 percent of the population. As we all know people gets older because it is a biological process and no one can get rid of this state of life. A trend has started to develop, whether we have been influenced by the western society or whether the level of tolerance has decreased among this generation towards elderly, which is eye opening. Now in the 21st century we have found a major curse of our society which is “ Old age homes”. We all are familiar that how nowadays people send their parents to old age homes when they get older where they spend their twilight years in pain, isolation and misery. Especially if it is our parents; they raised us, held our hands and taught us how to walk, read and speak. They stayed up nights, worked overtime and did all the things that we cannot even imagine only for us. They have endless love for us and are beacons of knowledge for our future generations.

The reason behind our group to choose this venture is that we all will develop up; we ought to remember that we all will be old one day what will you be doing at that point? That time when no one will here with you who can tune in to you?

Not all of us can do great things but we can do small things with great love.

Objectives:

  1. To focus on spreading awareness and letting people from all different classes know about this social issue.
  2. Communicate with old people where no one with whom they can share their sentiments with, whom they can appreciate and have a lovely time with.
  3. Fundraising through reaching out our social circle and through different market visits.
  4. Organize an event such as medical camp and get together.
  5. Collaboration with Jad-o-Jehad Foundation

Meet the goals:

We were somehow able to meet our objectives i.e

  1. We have spread awareness among our family and friends through survey form filling.

2. Visited 4 old age homes i.e

Heaven at Park Arab Society

Bilquis Edhi Family Home at Township

Happy Home at Township

Aafiat Old Age Home at Township

We interacted with old beautiful people who lived there with a hope that someone from their family could visit them. They were mostly highly educated.

3. We did fundraising through reaching out our social circle and by different market visits.

4. We tried to organize a medical camp at Aafiat Old Age Home.

5. We also had a meeting with Jad-o-Jehad Foundation for collaboration with us.

6. We have also prepared a logo for our project. “ A support to aged people.”

Challenges:

The following are some challenges faced by us:

Unfortunately, medical team postponed their medical campaign.

We were unable to access the manager of Aafiat Old Age Home for signing up for the permission letter for medical campaign.

Time management was the major issue faced by us.

Convincing people for donation was also one of the major challenges for us but we were able to convince them for it.

Outcomes:

We are able to collect funds for arranging a get together for old age home.

Visited one more old age home (Aafiat)

Collaborated with another team for medical campaign at an old age home.

Impact on people:

Through survey form filling and during funds collection we were able to convey our message to many people. We believe that they would definitely change their approach in future regarding old age homes.

Future steps:

  1. Create awareness about old age homes through social media.
  2. Visit old age home monthly and interact with old people.
  3. Arrange get together for them.
