The big problem here is people aren't fully understanding Trademark law.

Kik is correct. If you own a trademark you are under a legal obligation to protect that trademark. When they said they would be forced to sue they meant it. Legally they would HAVE to sue Azer, not out of spite or any form of malice, there would be big legal trouble for Kik if they didn’t sue.

Kik is their trademark and if they don’t defend that they lose all rights to it.

I was with Azer originally on this one, but from what I can see Kik was perfectly reasonable in their requests, and Azer’s responses were short and spiteful for, as far as I can tell, no reason, and I have absolutely 0 sympathy for someone who can’t conduct themselves professionally in a business environment.
