In recent times, we have seen a trend of ever increasing interest towards the digital art ecosystem all over the world. Artists, creators and collectors have finally found their long-deserved niche on the internet via the advent of NFTs, and unsurprisingly, this niche has garnered a massive audience which is on the rise as one reads this. Curated marketplaces have gradually become a phenomenon amongst art enthusiasts, buyers and collectors alike, and look set to flourish further in the next few years. India as well has seen a rising interest in NFTs, with a series of public figures making substantial NFT investments giving their vote of confidence to the phenomenon, helping people in developing trust and confidence.

Although the NFT industry has largely supported creators from across the globe, one can’t help but notice that the general idea of an artist/creator in this ecosystem is being thought of as someone who uses the digital medium — which becomes slightly limiting when it comes to acknowledging the diversity and richness of the art world. Much like digital artists, the artists who work with physical mediums like canvas and artisanry have also been in crisis mode for a while now, with their original markets slowly fading away and no newer ecosystems coming up.

At NAKSH, we aim at acknowledging this diversity of the art world. In a country as vast as India, there are bound to be hundreds of artists and art forms that have borne the brunt of digitalization, and been left behind in the art ecosystem — and we aim at bringing this large group of people together under an umbrella building a community that fosters growth and creative thought. Naksh aims at working alongside artists from all over India to get their artworks to a global audience through our platform — and the best part is that we have no specific definition or theme as to what an artwork can be; for us — the more diverse, the better.

By working together with artists from the interiors of India, Naksh also looks at contributing towards beginning a process of the conservation of traditional Indian art forms with extremely rich histories, while leveraging the power of NFTs and blockchain technology. This process will also be of massive economic benefit to the said artists, as the current markets for most traditional art forms are on a low.

Naksh’s blog will be a constantly updated repository of information and resources related to NFTs and Naksh. In this space, we will be talking about everything from NFT hype to what we at Naksh are up to. Looking forward to having you back again!
