A.I. Generated Deep Fake Photo

We are currently living in an era where propaganda is widespread. Social media and even mainstream media are the main sources of this propaganda machine. Despite the increasing popularity of fact-checking solutions, many disinformations remain unaddressed.

We are already suffering and now we have to face AI-driven disinformation, deep fake videos, audio, photos and whatnot? Aren’t we supposed to progress from development? But we are waiting for a catastrophe made by this so-called technology revolution. Here, I will discuss how most AI tools are unnecessary and how to optimize the AI disaster.

First, I want to clarify that I do not support the idea of “slowing down A.I. development”. This approach is illogical and goes against the nature of technology. It almost sounds like the proponents of this idea have accepted their failure and have no other solution. Instead, we should focus on what we can do to control the upcoming A.I. era, which some consider uncontrollable.

LICENSE! LICENSE! LICENSE! If there is any need or benefit to issuing licenses, then the one thing we must license is AI tools. Failing to do so will prepare us to face the worst disaster of the technology era. We cannot introduce regulations to unlicensed users on an open platform. Attempting to regulate unknown or email-driven users would be ineffective. It would be like the “Are you 18+? Yes or No” questions on porn sites, which cannot be considered a regulation or a form of protection. The only real solution is to require proper licensing, which should be based on professionalism rather than subscription money where penalties can be enforced on licensed users who behave unethically or engage in criminal activities.

Now, I would like to ask you about the mandatory areas where advanced and intelligent AI software should be installed. What do you think? One can name healthcare, security, education, business, agriculture, and others. However, today’s uses of AI tools allow us for easy face and voice replacements, as well as the creation of fake audio and facial movements. Now tell me, why one should be allowed to do it this easily? Why? How these silly works are benefiting us, the society? We should ask them these questions.

I am more concerned about the potential misuse of such technology. I believe that not everyone has to be in control of AI, they can simply benefit from it. It should be regulated through proper licensing to ensure that it remains in responsible hands and does not become public or open property ever. Ultimately, we should consider the potential blessings and drawbacks of AI technology carefully, and take steps to ensure that it is used ethically and for the benefit of society as a whole. We don’t need to halt AI progress, but we do need to establish a necessary boundary.

We have just entered the AI world and so many disappointing things already happened globally and the main victims are mostly women! In my country, one content creator had to cry and beg for justice and fight against the deep fake nude video. She tried her best to prove that the content was AI-generated, and that person wasn’t her. We must take these cases seriously and put an end to this unnecessary AI rumble. We can no longer allow our personal and unique traits such as our voice, face, fingerprints, and body to be manipulated or edited.

AI-driven world is our future and we must speak out against the negative impacts of unlicensed and unregulated AI, rather than hindering the progress of AI altogether. And before rushing to any new AI tools take your time to think, do we need this and why? Ask about the authorities to know who will be responsible if anything goes wrong here. Protecting our privacy and unique assets from AI advancements is crucial.
