3 Things That I Did Not Expect Getting Ready For Launch Academy

About

Launch Academy starts up in about a week. This last week will be a training montage worth of preparation for it. I’m excited for what my next three months will be like. Along the way I ran into three things I didn’t expect would be related to my experience at all.

3. People wouldn’t get it.

I don’t know if it is me not explaining it well or how different the idea is. Every person I explain it to seems to think its a college course or a hobby workshop. I keep explaining that it is a ten week course that will take up all of my time and they think I’m just too lazy to work and go to school at the same time. Speaking of work…

2. I’d magically get work.

I was unemployed when I signed up for a Launch Academy interview. Before getting accepted I received an email from a company I applied to five years ago asking for temporary workers. I thought it would be a good chance to get some work experience and money to spend while getting through Launch Academy. I was expecting maybe 10-20 hour work weeks sporatically. I ended up working full time for the following two months. Surprise!

1. Social Media

I’ve dabbled in social media, I’ve had blogs, a not-really-used facebook, a quick attempt into twitter, aborted once I was unsatisfied with three followers. Launch Academy requires a surprising amount of social media use (including this blog!) At least people will probably have to follow my twitter this time.
