One thing that the author seems to miss is the self inflicted effects of the cultural degradation of a corrupt government. When the president of the United States of America can say that the health care system should be allowed to self destruct from its own deficiencies instead of pushing to make it viable we must realize that Our government is failing. Every damn major problem that is wrong with American policy is attributable to our system of campaign financing. When it is possible to find and groom candidates for public office by privately financed groups and then have them elected through private campaign spending you no longer have a responsive government and it Will Fail. If a governing body does not serve the people it in theory represents will Justifiably Fail. Why should America be any different from all the previous governing bodies that have predictably done just that? All the military can be expected to do in such a situation is prop up, very temporarily, a increasingly totalitarian empire that is doomed to be replaced by a more vibrant system. Just where do you think this nation’s success came from in the first place?
