The Doggie Tango

Hot little pup, reddish, golden girl,
trots streets on the Mexican border.
Sidestepping, harsh rebel dog,
Tango-steps into the world.
Driven—
The beat takes her down Avenues unknown,
her lust moves her on.
Youth drives, hot, in heat.

Then she tangoed, and tangled with a car.
Shattered leg, (right rear for those that wonder),
landed her on the floor of Animal Control
some 30 miles away.
No one to claim the broken little pup,
she was soon to tango with death.
But for rescue, her dance would
end.
Then she danced into our hearts, lopsided,
on her three legs remaining, more like
a rumba, but always with grace.
