Tobias, I enjoyed your article as someone who is a Baha’i and sees the world quite differently than most people. Have you heard of the Baha’i Faith?
The prophet-founder, Baha’u’llah, which means the Glory of God, has written that this world is somewhat like a human being in it’s development. Throughout history humanity has evolved and progressed mainly as a result of the world’s great religions. We believe, as you state, that even through horrendous events humanity becomes more educated and continues on.
Humanity will not be destroyed. We are going through a period much like that of an adolescent. And we must go through this stage as a necessity before reaching adulthood. It will be painful. It, most probably, will be traumatic. We will learn what we must learn in order to bring forward an “ever advancing civilization” that will usher in the “Most Great Peace” or as a Christian would say, “Heaven on Earth”. As a people we must learn how to unify and see ourselves as one family. Can politics accomplish this? I believe that only the advent of a new religion can bring us out of this darkness and into the light of true understanding.
We believe that religion is essentially in unity of purpose, that God is one and humanity is one. There are volumes more but I’m sure you get what I’m trying to say. Bottom line…you are probably spot on.
Thank you for your insights and the very well written piece. Now I have to go look up Arch Duke Ferdinand.
