Living Your Artist’s Journey- Looking Forward, Looking Back
Living Your Artist’s Journey
I’m Nancy Hillis of The Artist’s Journey and I’m so excited for the new year and also for the year we’ve had in 2018.
I want to thank you for being here on the journey this year. Thank you for this year of living your artist’s journey. So many things have happened in 2018. One of the big things here was Studio Journey. I’ve had so many incredible artists in the Studio Journey as well as in The Artist’s Journey and it’s been an incredible honor for me to witness the growth and transformation in so many wonderful artists.
Two paintings are being shipped out to collectors
I have two paintings that are being shipped out to collectors. The first is this painting below which will be sent to a collector in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The collector and I decided that it would be too costly to ship the painting in a flat box so I’ll roll it up and use a tube to send it out. If you’re curious how I’ll do this, I made a little video for you on how to ship large paintings inexpensively in a tube >>> VIDEO HERE.
One of the interesting things that happened in this piece is several tears at the edge of the painting. Have no fear, this can be remedied! I have an instructional video on how to repair tears on works on paper. Click HERE to view it.
The second painting below will be sent to a collector in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
This painting was originally wet mounted on acid free foam core which is a reversible process. I decided to take the painting off the foam core so I could roll it up and ship it across the country. The reason for this is that it would be significantly more expensive to ship the piece mounted because it’s rather large at 50" x 38".
The other thing that’s huge for me this year is the project I’ve been working on for two years- and many of you know about this already- my book: The Artist’s Journey: Bold Strokes To Spark Creativity will be published January 27 on Amazon.
Interior Layout of The Artist’s Journey
This is the example piece, the proof, and you can see it has a beautiful layout which was created by Christian Brett in England. I love it because it has a lot of breathing space.

The Artist’s Journey Press Imprint
I love the little hummingbird imprint of The Artist’s Journey Press. My partner, Dr. Bruce Sawhill pointed out to me that the hummingbird is my spirit animal. Soon after we discussed this, one hovered outside the window. This has happened time and time again at crucial moments in my life.
The Artist’s Journey book launch is January 27
We’re about to launch The Artist’s Journey. It will be available on Amazon beginning January 27, both in print and electronic versions.
If you’d like to be part of my book launch team- please sign up below.
Many of you have already said “yes” to the launch team- but if you haven’t had the chance to join us, I’d love to see you in there and you can get in by signing up on the form below.
We’ll have our own Facebook group where we can interact, share stories and brainstorm ideas of how to promote and share The Artist’s Journey book with the world. This is so exciting! You’ll get a pre-release digital copy to read and I can’t wait to hear what you think about it.
This is my first book and it’s been a labor of love. I’d hope you’ll join me on my book launch journey.
Meanwhile, I’d love to see you on the artist’s journey in 2019. I love seeing your comments here and I love that many of you are taking my free courses such as the 7 Day E mail course as well as the Video Workshop.
I hope you have a great New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
And let’s go paint in 2019! See you soon.
With much gratitude from my studio to yours,
P.S. Please share this post and leave me a comment here. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
