Autodesk x PIX Moving | Autodesk Excellence Award and Innovator of the Year
6 PM CDT 27 Sept 2022, New Orleans, USA
A young man was standing on the podium with exciting sparks in his eyes, in his hands was a delicately carved trophy in cone shape with hollowed-out organic patterns, in front of him was a large venue in tech vibes with thousands of audiences from various industries witnessing the great moments at this special gathering.
This is Autodesk University 2022, one of the most impactful design and make conferences for innovations worldwide who reimagine what’s possible. At AU 2022, founders and innovators gather to connect with industry experts who are progressing architecture, engineering, construction, design, manufacturing and media. This year, AU is focusing on driving digital transformation to building resilience through sustainability and cloud-based solutions. “Learn” “Connect” “Discover” are the three theme words for AU 2022.
“I have no words to express myself! This is an incredible milestone for our team PIX+Autodesk, together we have worked hard in the last 3 years in a worldwide adventure from the spark in SF to Bangkok and the future is really bright. Thank you again” the young man in deep-blue suite on the stage spoke in a cheerful tone. He is the CPO of PIX Moving, a tech company dedicated to developing and manufacturing the next-gen smart vehicles powered by its proprietary Ultra-skateboard chassis platform. This year, PIX Moving has been selected as the winner of the 2022 Autodesk Excellence Award in Design & Manufacturing for “Innovator of the Year” and the news was announced at the Autodesk Excellence Awards ceremony.
Autodesk Excellence Awards celebrate the people, projects, and technologies behind exceptional contributions to the fields of architecture, engineering and construction, product design and manufacturing.
The partnership between Autodesk and PIX Moving can be traced a long time back to 2019, when PIX Moving was selected into the Autodesk Technology Center Residency Program. Autodesk Technology Centers exist to create a shared vision of the future of making with a community of innovators and thought leaders. The Residency Program is a vital part of bringing that vision to life by providing open workspaces and equipment for teams from industry, academic and startup communities doing forward-looking work in the areas of construction, manufacturing, and emerging technologies. During the residency program, PIX Moving has been collaborating with Autodesk in the exploration of digital manufacturing technologies and its possibilities in the automotive design and production. The output was marvelous. PIX Moving was connected with Autodesk technology centers in SF, Boston as well as the UK. The footprints evolved to a wider impact.
In November 2021, Autodesk released the success story of PIX Moving on the official website with the title “Smart Vehicle-PIX Moving: disrupting automotive with digitalization”. Since the very beginning, PIX Moving has been using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and innovative tools like Generative Design, 3D Printing and Robotics to create a decentralized, distributed and user-participated way of manufacturing. “We’re redefine the automotive industry from design, engineering to manufacturing” mentioned by Angelo Yu, the Founder and CEO at PIX Moving.
PIX is an innovator and global leader of groundbreaking smart vehicles. Based on the PIX Ultra-skateboard chassis platform, a wide range of purpose-built robo-vehicles, commercial vehicles and passenger cars can be built and developed. Currently PIX products have expanded to 20+ countries around the world and the company is growing rapidly. With the modular architecture, PIX products are more smart and flexible, covering 30+ application scenarios worldwide, which makes PIX a full-stack autonomous driving company with the most versatile scenario solutions. Moreover, PIX has developed the award-winning large-scale in-house metal 3D printing system, the dieless forming system as well as the real-time manufacturing, disrupting the automotive industry from design to manufacturing, beaconing the next-generation of smart vehicle production.
The digital manufacturing approach has enabled a wide range of product matrix. The PIX smart chassis platforms ranging for different sizes and load capacities has covered most application scenarios of autonomous driving and is empowering the development of smart vehicles. PIX is lowering the innovation barrier of smart mobility products and reducing product development lead time, achieving significant sustainability benefits.
In June 2022, Autodesk and PIX Moving deepened the partnership by presenting the 3D printed skateboard chassis at Future Mobility Asia 2022. “PIX Ultra-skateboard is the world’s first AI chassis designed to lower the innovation barrier of autonomous driving. PIX Moving uses AI-powered generative design to optimize the chassis design to best suit the application. This allows both the part’s shape and physical properties to be modified agilely to suit different requirements based on the customer’s application. By combining this approach with metal 3D printing and other digital manufacturing technologies, PIX Moving can produce a near-unlimited variety of customized platforms and vehicles within a much shorter lead time than the normal mode of single OEM plus long supply chain.” quoted from Manufacturing Review article.
The Autodesk Excellence Award in Design & Manufacturing for “Innovator of the Year” has validated the efforts from both sides. In recent years, Autodesk has been actively driving innovation in its software technology as well as business model, and they’re working with innovators and industry leads to reshape the architecture, constructer, product design and manufacturing sectors. While for PIX Moving, they’re also further dedicating its endeavors in smart mobility. Recently they’re launching several complete smart robo-vehicles, including PIX Robobus, which is providing shared mobility and commuting services in tourist attractions, university campus, industrial parks and airports etc.. PIX Robobus is defined as the “transportation microcirculation tool” for urban cities.
Autodesk is changing how the world is designed and made. PIX Moving is reshaping how the vehicles are designed and manufactured to rebuild the city with autonomous mobility. More milestones in digital manufacturing and smart applications are expected from this “bang” reaction between the two innovation-driven “chemicals”.
Special thanks to Autodesk for the award and the partnership opportunity
