I thought your subtitle “Spend Less Time Trying To Be Original And More Time Reading Widely was the real point here: that people should read more first before they write. These may be useful, even profound, ideas for someone to write for themselves, to remind themselves. But to post something *for others to read* the bar should be higher. These observations are far from original — or rare. Which the writers would know if they had read more widely. The more clutter (on Medium, on the Internet), the harder it is to find that which merits our attention. As you quote above, “We only have so much energy and attention, and we have ever increasing demands on it.” If this IS your point, that people should spend less time writing and posting something (not so) original and read more widely, well, it appears that the people commenting have missed it.
