Why I needed a ToteBag

Task 1.1 of my Hasura Summer Internship

When I was about 8 years old, my Mom introduced me to Enid Blyton, the wonderful Kirrin cousins and the beloved Timothy. The bored kid on a summer vacation absolutely loved it and I began looking forward to every visit to Higginbotham’s, Landmark and Odyssey. But there was a problem. I could get maybe 3 parts of the series(at the most) in a year and I wanted my hands on all of them, all at once. Growing up kindled within me an earnest passion for reading and it became particularly frustrating when I couldn’t find books at a decent price on Amazon or Flipkart. There were other people in my campus or elsewhere who had at least some of the titles that I wanted. That was when I realized how a tool to share books would be cool! And that was how ToteBag was born. In case you’re still wondering, ToteBag will be an app that allows people to find books from other people. Soon I realized that in the hostels, students were downloading the same movies over and over constraining the bandwidth, that could have otherwise been used much more efficiently. The idea of ToteBag thus extended to other types of media, pretty much any resource that one could possibly share — games, movies, books, series, music, etc.

In case you are wondering why someone would use ToteBag, here is why. Say, you need a book —one of the overrated CB’s that you don’t want to spend money on (especially if it is just to see what is so great about it that people won’t shut up), or a book for one of your courses. ToteBag is an easy way to find a book or a movie or a game (a resource as I’d like to collectively call them all); resources that you aren’t planning on keeping long term. In case you have resources accumulating dirt in some long forgotten corner of your place, you can post your resource on the app and someone looking for it is sure to discover it.

ToteBag — Find and share what you love! ❤

P.S. I initially wanted to call my app Medullo. Later I realised that ToteBag would be better-suited and decided to rename Medullo as ToteBag.
