Understanding the Difference Between Being Kind and Being Right

In today’s society, we are often faced with the dilemma of choosing between being right and being kind. We live in a world where being right is valued above all else, where winning an argument or proving someone wrong is seen as a sign of intelligence and strength. However, what we often fail to realise is that choosing kindness over being right can have a much greater impact on our relationships and the world around us.

Being right is often associated with being stubborn, closed-minded, and unwilling to listen to others. It is a mindset that focuses solely on proving oneself correct, without taking into consideration the feelings or perspectives of others. This can lead to conflicts, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings, ultimately damaging our relationships with those around us.

On the other hand, choosing kindness means prioritising empathy, understanding, and compassion. It involves actively listening to others, considering their point of view, and responding with kindness and respect. This not only improves our relationships but also creates a more harmonious and understanding environment.

One of the main reasons why we tend to choose being right over being kind is our need to protect our ego. We want to be seen as intelligent and knowledgeable, and admitting that we may be wrong…
