I wonder how many people are even aware of the things you have mentioned in this piece…. I imagine denial, protection, guilt, illusions of connection play a huge part in covering up (unconsciously of course) the negative effects of childhood and parents or primary caretakers….

I agree, much work is needed to be done to rewire ones brain to differentiate from the negative traits of our role models from our earliest years… probably it’s best to do as much work as you can before having children and repeating the past, but even then (speaking from personal experience) old ways find new ways to send the same message you received decades before… so all one can do is continue to learn and do and be the best you can!
