Ariana Grande Singles Ranked From Least to Most Overrated
Longtime Arianator ranks the most popular songs by Ariana Grande.
The bombastic Ariana Grande has released six albums and multiple hit singles by the age of 29. She is on a journey to evolve her sound through each musical project that she puts her heart and soul into. But that doesn’t mean Arianators can’t have their favorites.
This piece ranks her most popular singles from least to most overrated. However, the Christmas singles will not be included. Before I go through the list, let me disclose that I have LOVED Ariana Grande since her days on Victorious. Now let’s start with Ariana Grande’s least overrated single.
15. Positions
Positions is the lead single to Grande’s same-titled album that was released during COVID-19. While it’s not as popular as The Way or Thank U, Next, it’s still a nice song to listen to every now and then. It also has a catchy chorus and a music video presenting Grande as a powerful female president. Move over, Joe Biden!
14. 34+35
34+35 is a fun, silly, and sexy song about getting intimate with a significant other. It’s a cute pop song that many people on TikTok can sing and dance to.
13. One Last Time
One Last Time is a bittersweet song that makes people go through the emotions of missing an ex-significant other. What made it memorable was the music video, where Grande, ex-Victorious co-star Matt Bennett, and others are awaiting their doom during a meteor shower.
12. Into You
Into You has to be one of the best songs from the Dangerous Woman album. With its mix of high and low rhythms mixed with Grande’s high vocals, it’s hard not to love this song no matter how overplayed it is.
11. Right There featuring Big Sean
Right There was one of the biggest singles from Yours Truly. Especially given Grande collaborated on this song with Big Sean before they dated. I was obsessed with Right There when the album first came out when I was 13. I couldn’t stop singing it for weeks, and I still love it to this day.
10. Break Free featuring Zedd
Break Free is mixed with electronic dance and pop music that can be heard at a nightclub. Even eight years after its release, I can still sing and dance to this song. It also has a music video that parodies space movie tropes and it’s super cute!
No Tears Left to Cry was the first song to be released by Grande since the Manchester Arena bombing during her Dangerous Woman Tour in May 2017. Personally, I don’t care how overrated this song is. It’s still a beautiful song and it touches on the emotional impact of the tragic incident in memory of the lives that were taken.
God Is a Woman is a sensual song to lighten the mood in the bedroom and a sexually empowering song for women. I just wish that religious people who criticized the song title weren’t so uptight.
7. The Way featuring Mac Miller
The song that kick-started Grande’s career to pop stardom in 2013. The Way was also her first song that she and the late Mac Miller collaborated on before they dated from 2016 to early 2018. As overplayed as The Way is at this point, this is one of the most nostalgic Grande songs for me.
Dangerous Woman is a sexy, confident, and empowering anthem. However, I listened to the song many times that I had to take a break from listening to it for a while.
5. Problem featuring Iggy Azalea
Problem is one of Grande’s most popular songs from the My Everything album. However, the radio could not stop playing this song for the life of me. Still memorable though!
4. Side to Side featuring Nicki Minaj
As catchy as Side to Side is, it feels like the only reason it blew up was that Nicki Minaj was on it. Also, let’s not forget that Grande was accused of blackfishing during the times she performed the song live. Which I feel was the biggest reason why I grew apart from Side to Side.
3. Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored is the least memorable to me out of all of Grande’s singles. It’s a silly song about her wanting to get with a guy who’s taken. It’s also implied that they were already secretly hooking up, or maybe friends with benefits, during his relationship with the other girl. It just seems like it was only meant to be a TikTok song.
2. 7 Rings
7 Rings is a catchy trap song that samples the iconic song Favorite Things from the 1965 film The Sound of Music. It has a clever lyricism and hip-hop-influenced beats, but I got tired of 7 Rings after a while. At least people on TikTok can still use this song as a sound whenever they feel like it.
Honorable Mentions: Baby I, Love Me Harder featuring The Weeknd, Bang Bang featuring Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, Everyday featuring Future, Breathin, POV
Now don’t get me wrong, Thank U, Next is a break-up banger. Especially for Grande, who has had most of her relationships publicized for years. However, same as 7 Rings, I got tired of this song months after the same-titled album’s release. Now it’s starting to sound like a typical break-up song that I just can’t stand.
