Why Local Advertising and Local SEO might dissapear

….Annnnd it’s gone! (if you’re not familiar with this meme — have a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDIbYXM2jK0 )
Just like Stan’s money being gone — so will local advertising and local SEO dissapear. Ok, maybe not dissapear — but be drastically reduced or made a lot cheaper — and below are just 2 reasons why:
1. No-one will want to spend money to drive 2000 millenial people to their website who might want to book a table or buy a drink in the restaurant or shop when they can do this all day every day though Pokemon Go for half the price and actually have them in the venue.
Also, from current trends, it seems that it almost provides a guarantee that they will buy something as they are hanging around for 30 mins until the lure expires.
I would implement a no-seat-without-drink policy in a bar — for example.
2. I hope Pokemon Go won’t implement a search feature, or show you local PokeStops in a 5–10km area. Then it will also act as a search engine, completely taking Google Maps of the local scene.
I mean really. Add a PokeStop GPS… and it’s gone!
Pokemon compass should already come out in the latest version of the app.
Since millenials don’t read a newspaper as much because “there’s an app for that”, while local advertising through doors can actually lead to lawsuits if there is a sign of “No Junk Mail” — I can only see a steady decline of local advertising unless through Pokemon Go.
This might actually mean that real-time-bidding might happen on expiring lures on PokemonGo rather than local AdWords advertising placements.
I remember brochures… and they’re gone!
