Week 1. Cooper Hewitt. Museum Visit and Inspiration. 090118
On September 1, 2018, I had the opportunity to attend the exhibitions: Access + Ability and The Senses: Design Beyond Vision, at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York City. The visit to the museum allowed me to explore and learn about different innovations in the field of Inclusive Design, Participatory design and design for people with physical disabilities, as well as being able to open a space for new domains and interests that I had not considered in the first phases of the project.
Access + Ability is an exhibition where are presented important innovations developed during the last decade exploring how the user and designer are expanding and adapting accessible products and solutions for people with physical and cognitive disabilities using Inclusive design and the development of new ground-breaking technologies.
The Senses: Design beyond Vision manages to mix elements for people with different abilities, it is a totally inclusive exhibition that explores the sensory design, as an effective design tool that allows for inclusive experiences, that surpass aesthetic and visual values, and remits to deeper fields with the use of all human senses, thus contributing to design thinking through accessibility.
