We’re bringing back 1-on-1 critique sessions at NASH82, where you can get feedback from industry professionals on your published works, drafts, pitches or just questions for general advice. Besides content feedback, we’re also offering sessions on business strategy and newsroom structure!

To sign-up for these 20-minute sessions, please fill out this google form and it will be first come, first serve — we have around 60 slots currently. Once you have registered, we will send you your session details before the conference.

Elamin Abdelmahmoud is is a news curation editor with BuzzFeed News, and writer of Incoming, the BuzzFeed News daily morning newsletter. He is also a columnist for CBC radio and a frequent culture and politics commentator for CBC News. Elamin will be giving advice on social media.

Jeanette Ageson is publisher at The Tyee, where she leads all revenue generation activities including investor relations, advertising, sponsorships, events and reader funding. Jeanette will be giving advice on business strategy.

Shireen Ahmed is a writer, public speaker and award-winning sports activist who focuses on Muslim women, and the intersections of racism and misogyny in sports. Shireen can give feedback on pitches and general advice, with a particular focus on mentoring people of colour, non-binary people and women.

Bruce Arthur is the lead sports columnist at the Toronto Star. Bruce can give feedback and advice on pitching, writing, reporting and interviewing in sports journalism and beyond.

Rafferty Baker is a video journalist at CBC News in Vancouver. He produced the CBC On Drugs podcast, and files news pieces for CBC Radio, TV and online. Rafferty can give feedback and advice on multimedia journalism.

Sam Fenn is the host of Cited, a radio show about knowledge and power, and producer of Crackdown. Sam can give feedback and advice on audio journalism.

Matt Frehner leads the Visual Journalism team at The Globe and Mail. Matt can give feedback and advice on photo, visuals, newsroom structure, audience strategy and web design.

Jonathan Goldsbie is the news editor at Canadaland. Jonathan can give feedback on news pitches and writing.

Katie Hyslop is a reporter at The Tyee, where she has written extensively on BC education, foster care, Indigenous issues, low-income housing needs and solutions, and poverty. Katie can give feedback and advice on news reporting.

Alexander Kim is a producer of the podcasts Crackdown and Cited. Alexander can give feedback and advice on audio journalism.

Mike Larsen serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute for Information and Privacy Studies and is the President of the BC Freedom of Information and Privacy Association. He can give feedback and advice on FOI.

Katherine Monk is a veteran journalist, filmmaker, broadcaster and bestselling author. She has been a regular contributor to Global Television, Corus Radio and continues reviewing films for CBC Radio One, and writing for The Ex-Press. Katherine can give feedback on arts & culture writing.

Ben Nelms is an award-winning photojournalist who is currently a staff photographer for CBC News. Ben can give feedback and advice on photojournalism.

Emma Overton is an editor for satirical news website The Beaverton and a Canadian Screen Award-nominated TV writer. Emma can give feedback and advice on humour and satire writing.

Jana Pruden is an award-winning feature writer at The Globe and Mail and the former crime bureau chief of the Edmonton Journal. Jana can give feedback and advice on feature writing.
