NASH82: What to do in Vancouver
Since Vancouver is not terrifyingly frigid in the winter, don’t be afraid to explore the city if you have some free time!
Stroll around Stanley Park
If you have some free time and want to get out of the downtown hustle, Vancouver’s biggest and best park is just 10 mins away from the hotel by bus. It also hosts Canada’s largest aquarium and there’s truly nothing more enjoyable than watching the otters play with their rocks.
Free skating at the Robson Square Ice Rink (800 Robson St)
A fun winter tradition, free skating is taking place at the Robson Square Ice Rink daily until February 29. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday to Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. If needed, bring $5 in cash for skate rentals.
Get cultured at Vancouver Art Gallery (750 Hornby St)
A good place to escape from the inevitable rain or a spot to check out if you come to Vancouver early on Thursday. For $18 (the student rate), you get to see an array of exhibitions, including some on the works of Emily Carr.
Explore Canada Place (999 Canada Pl) and Vancouver’s historic Gastown area
Located just steps away from the hotel, Canada Place is situated on the Burrard inlet and offers great views of the waterfront. But don’t stop there! Continue walking on to Gastown, easily one of the most charming areas in Vancouver. Here you can find many souvenir shops, great restaurants and bars, as well as the famous Steam Clock.
