“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you”.

Dale Carnegie in a chapter of his book “ How to make friends and influence people” has written the above-mentioned phrase, which is having a sense of curiosity in it. What are the tips to make more friends in just two months as compared to two whole years? He has justified this statement with a number of examples. His first and best example is of a dog, a social animal that is more social than human beings. A dog, having no material benefits to its owner, is more friendly than other animals like hen, goat, etc which are paying for there living in material form. Why a dog is having this benefit or edge over others?. Dog shows he s more interested in the happiness or comfort of the people around him, his this positive attitude makes him more dear to his owner.

A person who shows no interest in others, or who lives only for his benefit, is a selfish person having no care for others. This selfish attitude of such people makes them dangerous for society. They are not helpful in building a healthy interactive, and interconnected society.

After reading this chapter from Dale Carnegie's book, I tried to implement it on my own. I experienced it really works. People around you are always in search of someone with whom they want to share their issues to get help about them. They want some sincere people to share their future plans and get some caring ideas. They always look around to find people who are there to ease them, who are really interested in them to help them out.

I found it a very positive experience as it helped me find more friends who can trust me as a good listener, like a good counselor, and at least as someone who can share their burden. It really means when you try to be interested in others in order to help them out.
