Let’s visualize ideas

When I first heard about sketchnoting I wondered why I hadn’t done it before. Sketching is basically something I do since I was a kid. So doing it while attending conferences or presentations is just a great concept.

I am starting studying UX/UI design at Ironhack in September. For that, all of the students were asked to do some prework to practice before the real class. The first exercise was about sketchnoting !

I was told to watch the Margaret Gould Stewart TED talk called “How Giant Websites Design For You” and I did so. I felt a little awkward in the beginning — as for every first time. Even though I am actually used to blank pages and creation. I was kind of afraid to start something without knowing the rules. I reminded to myself that there are no rules in sketchnoting and jumped into it.

“How Giant Websites Design For You” TED talk

As Mrs. Stewart kept talking, I felt more and more comfortable. It is about letting your mind go. Draw and write whatever is important to you or you want to remember. And this, in any way.

Ladies and gentlemen, the masterpiece

I highly recommend the method. It’s enjoyable and efficient. It makes you focus on what you are hearing and helps you memorizing. We all sketched a little flower in the corner of a paper while talking on the phone, well instead of the flower, draw something related to the conversation and magic… You already are sketchnoting !

Thank you all, for living my first time with me,

Until next time🙋🏽
