Kim Jong Un’s New Year message
“The flames of the campaign to implement the Party’s ideas and defend
its policies have unfolded a proud reality of our indigenous planes
flying in the sky and our indigenous subway trains running under the
ground, and rich fish and fruit harvests were gathered, their
socialist flavour bringing pleasure to the people.” — North Korea’s KCNA

The U.N.’s World Food Programme reports that North
Korea “continues to face regular, significant food shortages”. “Almost
one in every three children remains chronically malnourished or
‘stunted’, meaning they are too short for their age. Twenty percent of
all pregnant and breast-feeding women are also malnourished,” it adds. — WFP
