First time in PHP

I started programming in php since 6 weeks ago. I am really liking this language. In the beginning not was easy but not hard too. I decided buy a online course with PHP and MySQL. Four weeks later my company needed start a project and this project had two ways to be done, on php or Java. I dont know java enough to do something, in this time i see the possibility for start in php but the project is hard and complex.

I am two weeks in this project i got two small but important scripts, the first connect in Oracle database and the second reads a csv document coming from another database that stores transitional informations.
