I really want to learn more about SVG and web animation, and I know from experience that one of the best ways to learn is to move fast and break stuff. So, I impulsively decided (literally last night) to take advantage of the #inktober trend as an excuse to have fun and practice my skills — illustrating and coding an SVG animation every day for the month of October 2016.

It’s an ambitious goal — so I’m trying to keep it simple. I’m going to use Illustrator to create cute vectors featuring classic halloween themes and then use CSS and JS to animate an aspect of each one. Some days will be simpler than others — with the hopes that by the end of October my animations will become more interesting and sophisticated.

Kicking off #31creepySVGs with a classic Jack-O-Lantern.

I will be documenting this fun little project on my codepen account. If you feel inspired by my digital version of #inktober, I invite you to participate with me by illustrating and coding your own #31creepySVGs!
