Project 2025: how women’s rights are being quietly undermined

Donald Trump didn’t talk much about Project 2025 during his campaign. Why? Because he knows it’s a hard sell. While he denied being involved, he wasted no time appointing its architects to key positions after the election. Convenient, right?

So, what is Project 2025? It’s a playbook for reshaping America into a “traditional” society, filled with policies that sound great if you’re a straight, wealthy man. For the rest of us, especially women, it’s a trip back to the 1950s.

A two-panel meme of Trump. “Before Election”: he rejects the “Mandate for Leadership 2025.” “After Election”: he embraces it, smiling proudly.

What Project 2025 means for women

Let’s get real. Project 2025 doesn’t outright say, “Women should have fewer rights,” but its policies scream it loud and clear. Here’s what’s on the menu:

  • Forget about contraception education. Want to avoid pregnancy? Too bad, we’re not teaching you how.
  • Make contraception hard to get. If you manage to figure it out on your own, good luck accessing it.
  • No choice in pregnancy. If you get pregnant, you’re having that baby. No exceptions.
  • Trapped in bad marriages. Want to leave your abusive husband? Sorry, no-fault divorce might be a thing of the past.
  • No help with childcare. Single mom? Struggling to make ends meet? Affordable childcare could be off the table.
  • Shame and blame. And if you fail to handle this impossible situation? You’re lazy.

The shocking part

Here’s the kicker: a lot of women voted for this. Yep, women. It’s baffling. But it happens when you’re fed a steady diet of propaganda about “family values” and “freedom.” What they don’t tell you is that “freedom” here means freedom for corporations and the ultra-rich, not for you.

Some women genuinely believe these policies will protect their families. Others don’t realize how much is at stake. And some just don’t think it’ll affect them — until it does.

Why it matters

Project 2025 is a warning sign. It’s not just about policies; it’s about who gets to make decisions about our lives. Women fought hard for the rights we have today, and we can’t let them slip away under the guise of “tradition.”

So, here’s the question: are we going to stand by and let this happen? Or are we going to call it out for what it is — a blatant attack on women — and fight back?

Because if this is the future they’re offering us, no thanks. We’ve already lived it, and we’re not going back.
