Friday Card Sorting

In one of our projects (redesigning some internal emails content) we are struggled about the fact that our users don’t really have interest to read the content.

This fact is based on the numbers related to clicks coming from the emails.
We organized a series of Card Sorting sessions in order to define from 1 to 5, the level of interest of the content in group of users.

Scope
1.
To capture first reactions on interest in different topics.
2. To gather the level of interest or rejection from some of the content.
3. To listen the discussion from participants about certain topics and to collect some ideas.
4. To generate a report with the hot topics for our users, divided in frequency.
The session was divided in 3 parts:
1.
Brainstorming about favourite content and non-appreciate/ almost spam ones.
2. Individual Card Sorting, arranging topics in different spaces, adding expected frequency for them.
3. Sharing opinions and discussion.
Learning process:
1.
The role in the company when you pick the group can be a problem. They can work very well or some participants could feel to exposed.
2. Strong personalities can affect or influence to other people in the brainstorming.
3. It’s very important to have individual tasks for them to capture the best of the session.
