During the late hours of October 8th, 2014, Lisa Borch, fifteen years old at the time, was hanging out with her boyfriend, 29-year-old Bakhitar Mohammed Abdullah. They were at Borch’s home in Kvissel, Denmark, watching videos on the internet; those videos were footage of the ISIS beheadings of David Haines and Alan Henning. It was a common thing for the couple to spend their evening together, watching executions committed by ISIS.

Following hours of repeatedly watching the footage, Borch and Abdullah agreed to kill Borch’s mother, who was sleeping in another room. Tina Römer Holtegaard (40) had taken sleeping pills before going to bed, trusting that she would be safe in her home. The court couldn’t establish who did the following act, but most articles claim it was Borch; either way, Borch or Abdullah took a long-bladed kitchen knife and stabbed Tina in the chest around twenty times.

At some point before the attack, Tina had told Lisa to end the relationship with Abdullah, telling her that she should live a “normal teenage life”. The court found out that Tina and Borch would fight constantly about Borch’s obsession…
