The Unsolved Disappearance of Brian Shaffer

How can a second-year medical student walk out of a bar and vanish despite cameras watching him head back toward the same bar he had just left?

Brian Randall Shaffer was born in Pickerington, Ohio, on February 25th, 1979. Brian grew into a responsible adult, graduating from high school in 1997 before attending Ohio State University (OSU); he later began studying at the OSU College of Medicine in 2004. Despite his schooling path, Brian dreamed of starting a band and living a life like Jimmy Buffet. Brian also had a Pearl Jam logo tattooed on his upper right arm to show his love for the band.

While in his second year at OSU College of Medicine, Brian met his girlfriend, Alexis Waggoner, who was also in her second year of med school. Friends, family, and even Alexis believed Brian was going to propose in 2006, most likely during the Spring Break trip the couple had planned to Miami at the beginning of April. It was a trip that they would never take because Brain would vanish days before their flight.

A tragedy hit just before Brian’s disappearance, his mother, Renee, passed away following a vicious battle with Myelodysplasia, a form of bone cancer. While Brian claimed he was handling the death fine, his friends knew it was hard for him to handle.
