College Student Releases First Clothing Line
Montclair State University student Tahir Williams almost gave up on his dream just months ago. It was with the help of friends and the inspiration that came from the New York City skyline that Williams’ first clothing line titled TaiWear was released.
Before TaiWear, Williams enjoyed redesigning clothes he owned such as his “Pablo” hat. To make the hat his own, and with the help anything around him that was sharp, he intentionally made tears in the fabric to make the hat look old and worn.
Williams sewed some of his own clothes as well. During the spring semester, Williams entered his first fashion show here at Montclair State where he was able to show off his work one which included a purple and gold reversible jacket.
It was after that show that Williams knew he wanted something more. With the help of friends his first clothing line TaiWear was born. Although his shirts are manufactured, Williams’ line holds a deeper meaning. Hidden within his designs Williams shares stories that are unique to his experiences and issues that many college students can relate to.
In the near future, Williams hopes to expand his business online via social media.
