Content, content, and more content- everything in today’s digital economy is driven by content. How do you not pull out your hair while still staying competitive? Short answer- work harder. Here are three key strategies to help you create content that both drives engagement and moves people throughout your funnel organically.
Use a Buyer Persona
This is vital. Do not create content before creating a buyer persona (not a target audience). Take a look at this started Google Slides template that I put together. By using actual data and personas you will be able to know if the content will resonate, it will also prevent catastrophic advertising decisions or content from damaging your brand. Put simply this is how you have both content perspective and content hindsight. If you want to craft a buyer persona check out this recent article about just that!
Quality Matters
Get off Canva. I am serious about that. If you are looking to create branded content then you need to get out of Canva templates that everyone and their mom have used 500+ times because it’s “cheap.” There are many other alternative places to snag some content such as Freepik or IconScout and Affinity Creative Suite is super affordable. Adobe is still king but if you are looking for a cost-effective solution prince-like solution to stitch together some content in a brilliant way Affinity Designer will do that and more (by the way it’s less than $60 right now- FOREVER)!
Map Out Your Projects
Gantt charts rock! They are the foundation for every piece of content that is worth it's salt. With content creation, it is easy to get overwhelmed and snowball into weeks of inactivity and those weeks can turn into months, and before you know it there goes your audience. By utilizing Gantt charts you can map out batch content, manage your time/deadlines and see it all visually. This makes the difference. Here is an XD template that you can hop on and use if you are looking for a place to start. You can always do it old-school and draw it out too, just make sure that you can change things around.
Content is not going anywhere and honestly, that’s a great thing. We love content, story and emotion; they are what make us all feel something. As Pikachu/Ryan Reynolds always says “you can feel it in your jellies” and I think that is spot on! Make sure to create personas, remember that quality matters, and that by utilizing a toolkit like a Gantt chart you and your team can create the content that you need to. Keep it up, you got this!
