ZipRecruiter
There is nothing more frustrating when you are looking for a job then all the damn options. Indeed, Monster, Glassdoor, Etc. and all the apps that promise to do it better. When you are looking for higher level video jobs outside of NYC or LA you can call on them their bullshit pretty quick because most have ZERO results.
When drives me nuts isn’t the zero, I can just delete and move on. It is the companies that try and make it easy, but just muck it up. Take ZipRecruiter, you can apply for jobs like crazy with them. Name, email, phone, upload resume, done! What? That’s it? But I really want this job… What you might not notice with Zip is that after you fire off all those resumes you can go back and add cover letters. Moreover, you can edit your resume and look at the horrid ZipResume they generate for you. My god, is that what the hiring manager has been seeing? Hopefully not, but if you didn’t include it they might have been skipping you over all together. And if you weren’t fixing the awful garbage they parsed they might have just rolled their eyes and clicked next.
It seems like the job listing and applicant sorting world is just a bunch of companies trying to fix a shitty wheel with a nice looking shitty wheel. It’s infuriating when you have been on the job hunt for awhile, but everyone just forgets about it and says “I’m glad that is over” as soon as they find something.” Maybe a few people will stop forgetting sooner or later.
