I’ve been thinking about how glaringly absent a response mechanism is on Snapchat.

Yep! I think Snapchat’s trying hard to be a counterpoint to Facebook and Twitter, where there’s a very visible Like count attached to everything—they want to encourage responses that are more meaningful than a Like, and discourage valuing your posts based on a number. I’d love to respond personally to every cool Snap I get (and I have friends on Snapchat who do) but I just want them to build something a little more convenient than that—that’s hopefully still more personal than a Like.
