CNIT 581 Project : Project Concept

For my semester project, I will be using machine learning algorithms to allow a robot to navigate through an environment containing various obstacles / challenges which it will have to recognize as the correct object and perform the correct action to overcome that obstacle. This robotic system will have two main hardware components. First, it will have robotic hardware capable of locomotion and basic sensing required to successfully navigate an environment (ie. Speed, collision detection, etc.). For this project, I will use a simple wheeled robotic system (likely Redbot or iRobot). Second, it will have a server capable of running the machine learning algorithms required for active object detection will be installed on the above robotic platform (this will likely be a Raspberry Pi or some similar device).
