Controversial YouTube vlogger and former Disney actor Jake Paul, may be poised to star in an upcoming ‘Light-Night Talk Show’ series for YouTube’s premium subscription service, YouTube Red according to reports.

On March 29th, the Hollywood reporter reported that the magazine’s sources have informed the publication that YouTube Red may be launching a new series as early as May 2018 that will be similar to a ‘Late-Night’ show, hosted by Jake Paul. Propagate Content, a production company behind series such as Nat Geo’s ‘Animal ER’ and Lifetime’s ‘My Partner Knows Best’ is said to be producing the potentially upcoming YouTube Red series, alongside Five All In The Fifth Entertainment, known for “developing large-budget and independently financed feature films”.

Gavin Purcell, a former writer, and producer for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and Sarah Silverman’s “I Love You America” on Hulu, is claimed to be producing the untitled YouTube Red show’s pilot.

When reached for comment YouTube themselves kept quite, telling THR “Last year, we engaged in early development deals with a handful of YouTube creators as part of our normal process to evaluate new creative ideas” and “There is no series order currently in place.”.

Brothers and vloggers Jake and Logan Paul of been a massive source of both popularity and controversy for YouTube in recent months. Jake Paul became a popular topic of discussion on the site in 2017 as his neighbors complained of his wild antics, and hordes of fans crowding their street. His seemingly unconcerned and remorseless attitude led to serious scrutiny and ultimately Disney severing ties with the star.

Additionally, just last January Jake’s brother, Logan Paul saw himself embroiled in a controversy of his own after uploading a video contained footage depicting a suicide victim in Japan’s Aokigahara forest. Logan Paul was harshly criticized for not only uploading such graphic imagery (Though the victim’s face was blurred) but also what many saw as an immature tone carried throughout the video. This scandal led to YouTube canceling a variety of projects Logan was scheduled to work on for the premium service, YouTube Red. Logan has sense apologized and has made a considerable effort to spread suicide awareness and advocate for it’s prevention.
