If AIGA actually cared about being effeective in this regard, they would create a national, modular curriculum to insert design into K-6 education and promoe the Hell out of it to (first) parents and (second) educators. This is something I proposed several years ago — wow, maybe 10 now. The ONLY way to solve diversity issues is to change awareness, access, and culture when kids are kids and parents limit their options (well-meaningly or not). It’s a generational payoff but those are always the most stable kind.
