My favourite designers and marketers don’t always tweet or share information about their work. They’re just people. Their Twitter feeds are often hilarious. And while they’re clearly careful about what they say (words are powerful), they also don’t worry if they’re not “on brand”.
This has all served to remind me: if you want to start doing something, you just need to start. You don’t need a game-changing strategy or a fancy tool to get the job done. You don’t even need a unique idea. You just need to start.
Starting is the hardest part.
I sell content strategies to clients, but the strategies are almost always just action plans. Easy ways to motivate people. Ultimately, the easiest way to start making something is just to start.
I want to write more. I used to write ten or fifteen articles a week. It brought me a lot of joy.
I don’t need to write that much anymore, but I do miss it.
Like you, I just need to start.
