Realize the trade-off of “all-nighters” isn’t worth it — cuz it’s not

It’s a trade-off and it’s an easy one

Knowing when it’s okay to stop “the grind” can be tough.

It’s rough when you know you’ve got a deadline coming up and all you want to do is push yourself to get everything done. Usually this involves staying up into the late hours of the night — working on everything you can to make sure you meet the deadline.

For some people, this is normal. Many people chose to stay up late and “grind” though their work instead of working typical 9–5 hours. That’s totally fine.

Other people know they have to get up early. They know they need 7–8 hours of sleep to function correctly. But they still stay up anyways, to make progress on the project.

In reality, you can hurt yourself more than you’re trying to help yourself. What happens when you go from 7 hours of sleep to 4 can leave you useless the next day — at least for the first half of it. Then what do you do? Maybe stay up late again right? Wrong, you’re exhausted.

So why make this exception? Yes, you got some more things done but because of that you wasted most of the next day. If you had not broken your rule, gone to sleep early then gotten up on time you would’ve been fine.

It comes down to this: Trust that you can do the work, then go do it.

You have probably done a project like this before. You probably have a few things popping up last second but don’t you always? You’re going to be fine, don’t freak out and sabotage yourself.

Oh and have fun.
