— How a simple google inquiry led me to the most sensational pizza restaurant

After a full day of exploring the newest shops in Fort Worth pre-corona, I decided to keep the good times rolling and stop in at a local pizza restaurant called “Black Cat Pizza”.

Black Cat Pizza, founded by Chef Jaime Fernandez — first got its start selling artisanal pies in the late-night hours over at Stir Crazy Baked Goods last year. They soon became a weekend routine for many Fort dwellers and a solid place for a good slice.

Now nestled a little bit off the beaten path on the Southside of Fort Worth, Black Cat Pizza is giving a new look to your favorite classics. And just to prove it check out some of their unique flavor pairings like the “Red Fang” — a red sauce pizza topped with their classic cheese blend, Espanol chorizo, roasted cherry tomatoes, Calabrian chiles, and chile-infused honey and the extraordinarily named “Turtle Mutant Ninja Turtles” or “TMNT” — a green pesto pizza topped with their classic cheese blend, sugar snap peas, crispy kale, Marcona almonds, and seasonal vegetables.

Let’s talk more about this menu, with each combination Chef Fernandez manages to travel beyond the limitations of traditional pizza. From pizza names like “Takis Fuego” and “Grama’s Hot Sister” to the creation of a spicy caesar salad — Black Cat Pizza is in a lane of it’s own.

Since the Corona craziness began Black Cat decided to keep its doors open and make the best of a tough situation, prompting them to create pizza kits. A much-appreciated opportunity to invite a Friday night classic into our homes.

Oh and they’re here to stay, post Corona.

If you’re ever near downtown Fort Worth on an evening stroll (with a mask on of course) or maybe just in need of a mood booster — look up Black Cat Pizza because pizza is always a good idea.
