Calling all PMs in the SF Bay Area

This next set of posts was inspired by a meetup called “PMs helping PMs” run by my friend Jon O’Shaughnessy. The meetup’s core purpose is to bring together software product managers (PMs) across different companies and provide a space to share their experience with and strategies for tackling problems. It attracts PMs from companies like Tesla to startups like Blend and Entelo. The PM role can be isolating and it was refreshing to lean on others for advice!

While our initial meetup was to discuss the purpose of a spec, our discussion uncovered a laundry list of topics related to product management, including how to:

  • Scale your product team
  • Decide what to build (and what not to build)
  • Adjust the PM role to company size and product maturity

As well as a number of topics related to startups in general, such as how to:

  • Recruit at early stages
  • Proactively define culture, mission, and values
  • Better communicate at different stages

In future posts, I’ll touch on some of these topics.

If you’re a fellow software PM in the Bay Area and want to join the meetup, feel free to send me a message at natalie.sandman [at ] gmail.com.
