When encounter the patients with acute fracture. There are points to be considered.

  1. Do you recognize this fracture as the whole?
  2. Does the fracture need reduction?
  3. Can the fracture be reduced by closed method?
  4. Does the fracture need “strict” immobilization?
  5. How long does the fracture need for immobilization?
  6. Which clinical informations indicate fracture union?
  7. How to prevent possible complications of nonoperative treatment?
  8. Weight between the expected outcomes and possible complications after nonoperative treatment vs operative treatment.
  9. Anatomical reduction “is not necessary” for some kinds of fracture and completely healed “without” functional deficit.
  10. The treatment should be planned for the patients individually regarding age, activity, patient’s expected outcome and doctor’s competency.
