When it comes to British accents and the Australian one, there is definitely a similarity between them. However, if you are looking for which British accent is the closest to the Australian one, then you will have to consider a few factors.

First of all, it depends on where in Australia you are from. Generally speaking though, it can be said that the Welsh accent is probably closest to an Australian one. This is due to their similarities in terms of pronunciation and vocabulary choices – both Welsh and Australians tend to end words on a ‘v’ sound rather than an ‘r’ sound like other English speakers do. Both also pronounce 'o' sounds more open too!

West Country accents such as Bristolian or Cornish also come pretty close when compared with those living Down Under. These two Western UK regions share some pronunciation differences with Londoners which put them closer to Aussies - they tend not use glottal stops like Cockney's do and have more rounded vowels instead.

Finally, The Northern Irish accent is often said by Aussies themselves as being most similar out of all British dialects because of its distinctive broad vocabulary range – Ulster Scots influence perhaps? Either way these slight variations give this distant northern part of Great Britain a closer affiliation with our friends over in Oz-landia!
