UPDATE!

✔️Are you headed to Oculus Connect 5?

✔️Is it your first time?

♥️No worries!

AR VR Women Co-Founders Siciliana Trevino, Iva Leon, and Social VR enthusiast, Navah Berg have you covered! They jumped into Facebook Spaces Live to talk all things #OC5, with “what you need to know” being top of mind!

Hygiene. Germs are everywhere and when you are at VR events trying new immersive experiences, like Oculus Connect keeping germs at bay is important.

Transportation. Planes ✈️ , Caltrains 🚊 and automobiles 🚗.

VR Fashion: What to wear to Oculus Connect 5.

Safety. Being safe in this revolutionary social VR world.

Check out this list of What You Need to Know for Oculus Connect Newcomers…

#OC5 Tips

1. 🎭 VR Masks

as Iva stated in our Facebook Spaces Live video,

A lot of companies have disposable masks and wipe them down, but it’s always good to have your own. Some people don’t clean them properly and if you have your own, you will never have to worry about catching things like pink eye while enjoying your new VR experiences.

Social VR Tip: If you have a sleep eye mask, you can just cut the middle of it. See picture below:

2. Organic 🌿❤️ VR Love

Oregano 🌿 oil: doTerra has one that is already mixed and a perfect fit for a pocket or small purse.

This contains immune system benefits and (my favorite!), it acts as a powerful cleansing and purifying agent.

Peppermint Oil: Does going into VR or wearing headsets give you a headache? Use peppermint oil! Iva rubs it on her temples and on her neck to get rid of VR headaches. You can purchase peppermint oil on Amazon or go IRL to your local vitamin shop, fresh market or Whole Foods Market.

Note: For some people, applying peppermint oil to the forehead and/or temples can provide some relief from headache or migraine pain.

3. Transportation🚍🚇🚘

Lyft, Uber, Caltrain, and VTA. VTA operates light rail and bus lines directly to the Convention Center station. Check for times.

Park & Ride: If you drive to the San Jose Convention Center, you can park in any of VTA’s free “Park & Ride” lots and take a light rail to the Convention Center Light Rail station.

Caltrain: Flying into San Francisco? Or do you live there? Here’s a money-saving idea: for about $7-$10, you can take the Caltrain — stress-free and eco-friendly!

Lyft or Uber: These are definitely no brainers for convenience and expedited travel at a tech conference.

4. What to Wear at a VR Conference.

Super Social VR Model Work! When I went to Facebook F8 2018 earlier this year, it seems as though the typical Mark Zuckerberg attire was everywhere. I can only assume it will be the same for Oculus Connect.

  • Cashmere crew neck sweater
  • Straight leg jeans
  • Hoodies
  • Blazers
  • Converse/Vans sneakers/loafers
  • Skirts/dresses with boots

5. What’s your VR Plan?

It’s always that old saying…

Failing to plan is planning to fail.

Schedule meetings and events prior to coming so you can get the most of the conference. Network online via Facebook Spaces, join Facebook Groups, or follow the hashtag #OC5 on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

6. Safety:

Siciliana Trevino shared her top safety tip— try to always have a buddy when you go to events and if you don’t — the AR VR Women & Allies ladies, Iva and Siciliana, are just a Facebook message away.

Do you have any tips to share as a OG as an #OC1–4 veteran?

Share it with the hashtag: #OC5!
