I’ve read All Quiet on the Western Front (finally), and as harrowing as it is, it is a truly evocative narrative with vital social perceptions (and a book I’m likely to re-read). I wish it had been required reading in high school. I’ve put off reading The Story of Lucy Gault and Of Human Bondage, but I’m motivated to dig them out of my shelves now.
